History: The Aztecs took the North American Soccer League by storm in 1974, winning the league championship in their first season. Elton John was part owner of the team from 1975 to 1977 and Manchester United legend George Best played for the Aztecs late in his career. He was named the NASL’s best midfielder in 1977. The Aztecs played most of their home games at the cavernous LA Coliseum, but also played at the Rose Bowl and collegiate stadiums in the LA area on occasion.
